Tuning: Standard

This is a nice bluegrass tune that changes things up a bit on the Mules' debut
album. It's fast-paced and really fun to play (especially if you know a good
banjo player). Still working on the guitar solo but it's a doozy. If you
can improvise some lead in G that'll do just fine until I get it figured out.
Sorry!

CHORUS:

G C
Overdrive Kentucky '62
G D
Smoke is risin' thick and blue
G C
Wild Turkey burnin', high lonesome sound
G D G
17 miles of bourbon flowin' down

VERSE:

G C
Turn of the century, it was a mystery
     G D
the day that river caught fire
G C
Lord looked down and he breathed a heavy sigh,
G D G
40 gallon barrels firin' at the sky

BRIDGE 1:

         Em D
And the catfish were in town lookin' for a ginger ale
          Em D
and the stores sold outta all the garden hose
Em C
Sherriff Amos White took a train outta town,
    G D G
At least that's what we all suppose

(Banjo solo, play VERSE chords)

(CHORUS)

(Guitar solo in G, play VERSE chords)

(Mandolin solo, play BRIDGE chords)

(CHORUS)

VERSE 2 LYRICS (Same chords as first VERSE):

Was a fateful day, that clear, windy May

That Green River turned a milky brown

Bibles were all closed and people danced in rows

Whiskey river flowin' through the town

BRIDGE 2:

         Em D
And the catfish swam around lookin' for a ginger ale
         Em D
And the stores sold outta all the garden hose
Em C
Sherriff Amos White took a train outta town,
     G D G
At least that's what we all suppose

(CHORUS)

G D G
17 miles of bourbon flowin' down
G D C G D G
17 miles of bourbon flowin doooooooooooown
