Lou Reed And John Cale — Small Town

    	    	Вступление

This song is a real nice track from Songs For Drella, the concept album Lou Reed and John Cale dedicated to
Andy Warhol after his death. The original version has no guitar at all, but I still tried to make a
guitar-friendly tab. It's not perfect but give it a chance.
The chords are basically all the same throughout the song, but as A6 is pretty unusual to play, this is the
easiest way to make it sound right:

A6 x02222

              D G6
When you're growing up in a small town
              A6 D
When you're growing up in a small town
              D G6
When you're growing up in a small town
         A6 D
You say no one famous ever came from here

              D G6
When you're growing up in a small town
           A6 D
and you're having a nervous breakdown
          D G6
and you think that you'll never escape it
    A6 D
Yourself or the place that you live

       D G6
Where did Picasso come from
               A6 D
There's no Michelangelo coming from Pittsburgh
   D G6
If art is the tip of the iceberg
        A6 D
I'm the part sinking below

/ D / A G# G / D / G A /
/ D / A G# G / D / G A /
/ D / D /
              D G6
When you're growing up in a small town
      A6 D
Bad skin, bad eyes, gay and fatty
  D G6
People look at you funny
       A6 D
When you're in a small town
    D G6
My father worked in construction
          A6 D
It's not something for which I'm suited
   D G6
Oh, what is something for which you are suited?
  A6 D
Getting out of here

/ D / A G# G / D / G A /
/ D / A G# G / D / G A /
/ D / D /

   D G6
I hate being odd in a small town
          A6 D
If they stare, let them stare in New York City
         D G6
As this pink eyed painting albino
     A6 D
How far can my fantasy go?
        D G6
I'm no Dali coming from Pittsburgh
     A6 D
No adorable lisping Capote
                 D G6
My hero, oh, do you think I could meet him?
     A6 D
I'd camp out at his front door

              D G6
There is only one good thing about a small town
              A6 D
There is only one good use for a small town
              D G6
There is only one good thing about a small town
      A6 D
You know that you want to get out
              D G6
When you're growing up in a small town
      A6 D
You know you'll grow down in a small town
              D G6
There is only one good use for a small town...
                                                 D
You hate it and you'll know you have to leave
